 Building a Future of Hope

Spirituality and Faith Formation
Target Audience: Parishioners and all Staff

Overview
Deepening our understanding of the value system of Jesus and the Reign of God’s Love that was the centre-piece of his teaching not only leads us to a more profound personal faith but gives us clear guidelines on how to engage in the task of transforming our world into the world that reflects the vision of Jesus. While acknowledging the challenge of such a task, we need not be overwhelmed by it – we have a significant body of teaching to inform us, skills and capacity to take up the challenge, and the sure guidance of the Holy Spirit underpinning the work. And we have the motivation – to build a future of hope for our families, our students and those generations who will build on our work to continue to transform our world into a place where every person and creature can live life to the full.

Aims
With this program participants will:
  • Reaffirm and deepen their understanding of the values of Jesus that guide our work of transformation of the world in which we live to a world that reflects the Reign of God’s Love
  • Gain a deeper knowledge of how these values have been developed over time into guiding principles – through God’s inspiration in the Hebrew Scriptures, Jesus’ teaching by word and example, and the Christian community’s development of them over the last two millennia as new situations and challenges have emerged in our world
  • Examine methodologies for the application of these principles to specific challenges that we can meet in our own society
  • Reflect on their own gifts and talents and how they can use them for the benefit of others and our community in ways that are transformative of our own spheres of influence – our homes, workplaces, social contexts, nations
Duration
