Exploring the Spirituality of Jesus

Target Audience:  All Staff and Other Parishoners

Overview
In these workshops we will delve into the spirituality of Jesus as it is revealed in the Gospels.

This will involve:
  • recognising the spiritual tradition underlying the mission of Jesus,
  • reflecting on Gospel passages and episodes that exemplify the Jewish spiritual journey,
  • practising a sound method of interpreting what Jesus says in discourse, parables and engagement with individuals,
  • identifying the Jewishness of the teachings of Jesus as a key to understanding his message.
 
The aim is to gain a practical grasp of the mission and message of Jesus that will enable teachers of Religious Education to present an authentic picture of Jesus and his relationship with the people of his day and us, in the 21st century.
 
Familiarity with the background, intention and spirituality of Jesus will enable us to:
  • add interest and purpose to classroom lessons and discussions,
  • experience personal and professional confidence in our classroom presentations,
  • competently adapt our knowledge to whatever age group we are teaching.

Duration
This is a one day professional development opportunity to upskill teachers in their understanding of the Bible and its application and use with students.
