Christology Through Art
Birth, Death, Resurrection, Ascension and Pentecost

Spirituality and Formation

Target Audience:  Parishioners and All Staff

Overview
This workshop will explore the two central foci of Christology through art: the theology of the Incarnation (Birth) and the Paschal Mystery (Death, Resurrection, Ascension and Pentecost). This will be explored using both classical and contemporary art.

Aims
With this program participants will:
  • deepen their understanding of the theology of Incarnation as foundational to our understanding of the Christian message of salvation
  • explore how artists have presented the birth of Christ not only as a past event, but as an event touching and affecting the way we see ourselves and relate to each other as human beings and as Christian brothers and sisters
  • expand their’ awareness of the importance of the Paschal Mystery to the life of the Church, to Christians, humanity and the whole creation
  • reflect on the interaction/intersection between art and Scripture.
Duration
This one-day workshop will include interactive exercises, sharing of individual insights, personal reflection and teaching strategies for the content presented
