Encountering This presentation is designed to be totally counter-cultural to the norms that are currently shaping education in Australian society. Whilst secular education is focused on Naplan data, Year 12 rankings and compliance benchmarks, Catholic schools are committed to less tangible, but arguably, much higher goals. Utilising the metaphor of the ‘seven steps’ or courtyards of the ‘Second Jewish Temple’, the presentation endeavours to immerse those involved in Catholic education with a journey of reflection as to the true purpose of a Catholic school that acknowledges all participants, students, staff and families, are at different points along the journey of faith and life. Duration
This one-day formation program combines storytelling, scripture and the use of metaphors to highlight the key themes. Participants are given frequent opportunities for personal reflection and discussion with their peers so as to ascertain the relevance of the input to the unique context of their school community.
