 Laudato Si:
Revolutionary or Evolutionary?

Spirituality and Faith Formation
Target Audience: Parishioners and all Staff

Overview
Unpacking Pope Francis’ 2015 Encyclical, we locate it in the context of our faith tradition, with focus on how it fits in the body of Catholic Social Teaching.  We take a detailed tour through the Encyclical, and then investigate how the teaching can be practically implemented in our own particular circumstances at home, school, workplace, town/city or wherever we have some influence.

Aims
With this program participants will:
  • Deepen their understanding that Laudato Si’ is not simply a manifesto on climate change. It offers a new vision of the world as glorious as the vision in Revelation of ‘a new heaven and a new earth’ (Rev 21:1).
  • Gain a deeper spirituality of love and respect for all creation in the one community of life on earth.
  • Reflect that Pope Francis in this Encyclical is full of hope that we can meet this urgent challenge to the future of ‘Our Common Home’.
Duration

One day, incorporating information sessions and times for personal and/or group reflection

Facilitator
