Easter and Christmas Art
Jane Tonks: Local Artist
Induction, RE and Formation
Target Audience: Stage 3 and 5 Teachers
or Visual Art Teachers
The Easter and Christmas Story Art Competition provides an opportunity for students in Stage 3 and Stage 5 to create art works and written reflections based on one of several scripture passages that depict Holy Week events and the birth of Jesus Christ.
The diocese is providing an opportunity for staff who will lead the students at their school in the art making process for both art competitions. - indeed any staff member who teaches Visual Art would benefit and enjoy the experience that is to be led by a well known local artist - Jane Tonks.
The main purpose of day is for staff to gain the confidence and knowledge to be able lead and guide their students to create high quality artworks.
In the workshops, Jane will model how she approaches creating beautiful pieces of art.
In these workshops Jane will model different Artistic techniques. She will lead participants through the basics of acrylics on canvas, watercolour, charcoal and print making.
By understanding these steps, participants hopefully can repeat this back in their own school and continue to improve their students’ painting skills.
This one day opportunity is designed to better prepare Stage 3 and 5 teachers to be able lead and guide their students to create high quality artworks.
